Spartak players continue preparation for the second half of the season. Oleg Kononov’s side is scheduled to play their first game in Fonbet Match Premier Cup tomorrow.
Spartak will face Rostov in the first game, a side filled with players than once wore the red-and-white shirt.
Rostov players have today trained on the adjacent pitch to Spartak’s footballers, couple of dozens metres away, at the Aspire Zone complex, which will host the tournament itself.
The session itself consisted of strengthening exercises, playing drills and a mock match on part of the pitch. Goalkeeper Aleksandr Selikhov and forward Ze Luis were not in training: the former has a fever, while the latter is doing gym work following a cold.
Leonid Mironov also trained separately at the gym, after our defender has pulled hip muscles.
After the training session one of our coaches, Sergei Kuznetsov, answered a couple of questions from our press office.
— We are sticking to the original plan and train twice a day starting today, upping the intensity all the time. Thankfully the conditions for training here are perfect.
— You are facing Rostov tomorrow. Does the coaching staff have a particular goal in place for the team?
— We work according to plan and build up our fitness to be at 100% for the official matches. But the outcome of the upcoming tournament is also important to us. We’d like to win, because we also aim to do just that.
